of unhappy states.
The lyrics were written
toward the end of election
night reports just as George
W. Bush is about to be elected
for real, this time.
The music sprang from other
moments.
The more time that passes since
the vote for change should have
been reality, the more bitter the
gap between a disenchanted world
and American Republicans.
Anyway. Time passes.
Soon there’ll be a new chance.
